MKC TOOLSHere are a couple of treadmill motors with shields fabricated to help keep sawdust out. The air intake of most of these motors is in the rear end and is almost directly under the saw blade or business end of the headstock. For most sawdust other than fine sanding dust this method works fairly well to keep it from being sucked into the motor. For fine dust that hangs in the air a foam filter of some sort works much better. I have made cup shaped foam filters for many of them using window airconditioner filter material. I suggest blowing the sawdust out any open motor regularly to prevent sawdust buildup and the resulting motor overheating and other problems.
