One problem with running dc motors at lower speeds for extended periods is that fan, if the motor has one, does not turn fast enough for adequate cooling. The addition of a 110 volt muffin fan will solve that problem. The mount will have to be custom built for the motor since there are many different sizes and shapes. Here is how I did one of them. It can be wired to come on with the motor or with a separate switch. A screen or guard of some sort could easily be added for safety.
